Orchestra Toronto and FL (Fearless Leader) Kevin Mallon polish up for their third concert this season featuring all things Francais! Pelléas et Mélisande Suite by Fauré; OT’s very own: Tom Mueller on cello for Cello Concerto No.1 in A minor by Saint Saëns; and Debussy’s: La Mer, with John McGregor and the 3 kids on trumpet! (A dynamic team!) It’s happening next weekend, loves!
Went to hear the most-talented Alison Balsom play Qigang Chen’s Joie Eternelle for Trumpet and Orchestra with Toronto’s own: TSO at Roy Thomson Hall on Feb. 4, 2017. Chinese New Year celebrations led by conductor: Long Yu. Great sounds from the back too: Andrew, Steve, and the two Jims! Especially memorable night for the trio thanks to our dear Jim and fab man, Andrew!! Thank you!
Had a great to trip to Montreal to see Paul Merkelo’s recital: From Russia With Love at the Salle Bourgie on January 26th. Janelle Fung expertly accompanied. Heroic playing!! So admire you, Paul! Invaluable time together on Friday. Look forward to spending more time together.
