About Us
Canadian trumpeters Matisse, Aled, and Maslin Blundell started playing trumpet at 7, 6, and 5 years respectively, and have been playing together ever since! Individually, they have held positions in the Hannaford Youth Program, Guelph Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra, Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (touring to Los Angeles and Shanghai), Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Orchestra Toronto, among others.
Aled and Matisse are 4 and 5-time Kiwanis Music Festival Provincial finalists, with Matisse twice going on to compete Nationally. The duo have performed in Carnegie Hall as part of the Winners’ Recital of the American Protege International Competition and have soloed with numerous orchestras across Ontario. As a duet team and a trio, Blundell Brass has had the delightful privilege of soloing with the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Matthew Jones, the Oakville Chamber Orchestra under Charles Demuynck, the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra under Jean-Michel Malouf, the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and Milton Philharmonic Orchestras under Sabatino Vacca, the Stratford Symphony Orchestra with Daniel Warren, the Guelph Symphony Orchestra under Judith Yan, Symphony on the Bay under Claudio Vena, Orchestra Toronto under Kevin Mallon – all after making their solo debut with the Rose Orchestra in Brampton when Maslin was 10.
The siblings study with Jim Spragg of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Matisse, Aled, and Maslin love to play, and could not envision a life without music!!
